Book Review: Mind Magic by Dr. James Doty

And of all places, sa Enchanted Kingdom pa talaga.

Sobrang daming takeaways ng librong to. Tapos boom—years later, saktong $10M yung nakuha nyang talent fee from Dumb and Dumber.

Pero deep down, tinatanong nya sarili nya, “What do they want?” gabi-gabi. In a way sumakses na sya, pero parang may kulang.

Tapos one night, may lightbulb moment:
“They want to be free from concern.”

Na-realize nya na yung real gift nya wasn’t just being funny, it was freeing people from their worries, kahit sandali. Kaya he stripped down his act, stopped performing to please, and started showing up as himself—someone who didn’t care what others thought because he knew his intention was clear. Yun yung magic.

So na-align nya yung gift nya with a greater purpose: to relieve people’s suffering. Ang reflection pa nga nya, part of his drive came from his childhood desire to make his mom feel that life was worth it” kasi may sakit yung nanay nya kaya pinapatawa nya.

Na-realize din nya na when he performed, he was doing exactly that—helping people feel lighter, seen, free. “I did something that made people present their best selves to me, wherever I go.”

Sabi nga ng EK, “The magic stays with you”. Sana mag-stay rin utak ko.
