Sobrang worthwhile basahin itong The Obstacle is the Way ni Ryan Holiday. Ito yung tipo ng libro na I want everyone to read. But also, ito rin yung tipo ng libro na hindi natin siguro maa-appreciate until nasa mismong obstacle course na tayo. Sabi nga nila, tatablan lang tayo ng message kapag ready na tayo.
But I thought of something else. What if i-put out ko lang yung message na nakuha ko dito sa libro? Tapos those who need to hear it the most will get the message kasi timely para sa kanila. Tutal naman the message will only resonate kung relevant otherwise it’s just noise that’s easy to ignore and scroll away sa feed. But just in case, at least it’s already out in the open, let the algorithm find us when we’re ready to seek it.
Bawat chapter ng libro actually may mga powerful stories na worth sharing. Pero yung pinaka-favorite kong chapter ay yung tungkol sa Amor Fati.
Yung Amor Fati daw ay isang Latin phrase na ibig sabihin ay “love of fate.” Sabi nga, it’s loving whatever happens to us and facing it with unfailing cheerfulness. It is the act of turning what we must do into what we get to do. We put our energies and emotions and exertions where they will have real impact.
Kung iisipin nga natin talaga in most cases, indifference and acceptance are certainly better than disappointment or rage.
The goal is:
Not: I’m okay with this.
Not: I think I feel good about this.
But: I feel great about it. Because if it happened, then it was meant to happen, and I am glad that it did when it did. I am meant to make the best of it. And proceed to do exactly that.
Sabi nga, it’s a little unnatural to feel gratitude for things we never wanted to happen in the first place, di ba? Pero alam naman natin na challenges can bring opportunities and benefits. Kaya nga overcoming them makes us stronger and better. So anong reason para i-delay pa? Instead of realizing later that it was for the best, we can feel it now because it was meant to be. Tulad ng message na to, baka nakatadhana na mabasa mo. Otherwise, di mo tatapusin basahin to. Amor fati.
